story: Djuvec has its roots in Turkey and is being prepared in many different versions, with and
without meat. Also called the Balkan risotto it can be served as a main dish or as a side dish
with grilled meat.

Ingredients for 4 persons:

  • 250g of long-grain rice
  • 1 red pepper
  • ca 500ml stock
  • ca 200g peas
  • ca 1tbsp red pepper powder



  • sauté the chopped onions and peppers in olive oil
  • add the rice and stir well
  • add the pepper powder and tomatoes, stir
  • add the beef stock
  • add finely chopped garlic
  • add salt and pepper
  • add the peas 5 minutes before the rice is done



  •  add a tbsp of ajvar and stir well
  • add some chicken if you like
  • very versatile side dish
