story: Djuvec has its roots in Turkey and is being prepared in many different versions, with and
without meat. Also called the Balkan risotto it can be served as a main dish or as a side dish
with grilled meat.
Ingredients for 4 persons:
- 250g of long-grain rice
- 1 red pepper
- ca 500ml stock
- ca 200g peas
- ca 1tbsp red pepper powder
directions:
- sauté the chopped onions and peppers in olive oil
- add the rice and stir well
- add the pepper powder and tomatoes, stir
- add the beef stock
- add finely chopped garlic
- add salt and pepper
- add the peas 5 minutes before the rice is done
tips:
- add a tbsp of ajvar and stir well
- add some chicken if you like
- very versatile side dish
